Moucharaby.OS, 3D-printed stoneware piece by the Fouzia Khaia studio

Object designer and researcher, Fouzia develops a practice at the crossroads of contemporary design, craftsmanship and research into pattern. After completing a master’s degree in traditional arts in Morocco, she continued her path in France at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art et de Design in Limoges, where she studied object design and ceramics. She graduated with the DNSEP, with the jury’s highest honours, in 2025.

Her work focuses on the geometric systems rooted in Morocco’s traditional crafts and architecture, which she approaches not as ornament, but as active structures capable of generating forms, objects and narratives. She seeks to decontextualise the pattern in order to explore it as an autonomous, modular and evolving language.

Through ceramics, 3D modelling and generative digital tools, Fouzia questions the relationships between form, material, transformation and use.

Her practice also reinterprets ancient architectural practices and elements, seen as vernacular answers to challenges that remain relevant today. Through projects centred on the mashrabiya, she explores natural ventilation, light, shadow and porosity.
